Fancy doing something different this weekend? Try Livingsocial!

Last weekend I did something different.  I attended a wonderful cooking demonstration and cookery lesson at Dillis Restaurant in conjunction with Livingsocial.

Together with Chefs Ravi and Naeem our Indian cookery experience consisted of 30 minute demonstration followed by the class cooking three Indian dishes.

For the demonstration Chef Naeem showed us all how to make onion bhajis and a rather delicious tasting Mango Lassi.  He really had an impressive knowledge and shared many informative pieces of information such as how misused the word 'curry' is here. Did you know curry simply means gravy in India?  Or that Masala is a word used to describe anything that consists of more than 3 ingredients? Well you do know. It was this and Chef Naeem obvious love of Indian cookery that made the day so enjoyable.  He had us all hanging on his every word!

The experience was fantastic for Vegetarians with Paneer as the alternative to the chicken dish, so after tasting the Lassi and those superb Onion Bhajis we were each given a cooking workstation to create our own Indian dishes under their expert guidance....

Next step Masterchef!

Amazing and impressing myself at my culinary skills I made...
Dal Tarka
Aloo Palak

Paneer Kali Mirch

And much to my delight we even got to take our creations home!

How many takeaways can you say you made?
